Easter at Granny's

dresses and headbands:  Kaitlynn - Justice,
Taylor - Crazy 8
Hi! My name is Kaitlynn and I'm Maddi's cousin. In this picture we are at our grandmother's house taking pictures of our Easter dresses. As you can see there are not many boys in this family. We are all girls (poor dads)!
I'm the one wearing the blue headband. My sister and I are the ones with the braids. It may seem weird but that's what the girls wear in alot of places like Jamaica.  We just got back from a beach trip where we had our hair braided. We'll have to take them down for school pictures this week but it was fun to try something different.

Check back tomorrow to see what Maddi wore on Easter! Thanks for visiting the blog!

Saturday Manicure - Press On Nails

These are not my Easter nails. There is no way that my Mom would let me wear them to church. Or probably anywhere out at
all. I like french style things and these are french tips. They have glitter on them. I found them at Justice - one of my favorite stores.
I finally made it to an egg hunt. Remember my one last week got rained out (click here). Check back to see what I wore! Thanks for visiting my blog!

Ready, Set, Shop - at Gap Kids

This is me at Gap Kids on my recent shopping trip. I am  trying on outfits. I liked the shorts and the flip-flops in the one to the right but I didn't like the sweater.

I don't like the color of the dress in the middle or the shape. I did like the fabric as it was as comfortable as a t-shirt. Overall this dress was a little plain for me.

The last outfit, I didn't like it at all. I didn't think it was me. Mom made me try it on because I've seen things I didn't like on the hanger and once I tried it on I did like it. But not this outfit.

These are a few of the outfits that I tried on at Gap Kids, but not all of what I tried on. You will have to check back as I will continue to post outfits from my shopping trip to see what I found that was just my style.

It's a Shopping Trip!

We're off on another trip! Dad has a business trip this week and Mom and I are going with him.

When he is in meetings - that means shopping for us! Yea! I found some clothes from children's stores on the internet that I liked. I hope that I can find them when we go the the mall.

This outfit is great for traveling (and shopping!) because it's easy, comfortable and is great for all weather. You never know what the weather will be like when you are traveling. Did you notice my jewelry? Remember in my post DIY Leather Bracelet I told you to watch for it in an upcoming outfit? Well, here it is. I love wearing it!

Check back as I will be uploading some pics of my shopping trip later in the week.

What I Wore - To an Egg Hunt

This post was supposed to be what I wore to an Egg Hunt. But it turned out to be more of a "what I got dressed in to wear to an egg hunt that got rained out" kind of outfit.  But I thought that I would show you any way as Easter is still a week away. There's plenty of time left to organize another egg hunt. And another chance to wear the outfit!

What I Wore: dress - Justice, leggings - unknown,
shoes - Faded Glory, basket - Easter Bunny

This is not my Easter dress but I like the colors and think that it looks 'springy' even though I got it last Fall. There are little sequins scattered across the dress and a band of sequins around the bottom layer which gives it the dressy look that I like. Another Egg Hunt is scheduled for Saturday, maybe I can wear it there.
P.S. I got a Superior Rating at my Piano Competition. To see more about what I wore click here.

Saturday Manicure - Easter Time

It's Easter time! So I did spring colors on my nails this week. Pink and green! I think the colors are good to wear to an egg hunt.  It's really simple. Just put a base color over entire nail - I used green. Then use a nail polish pen (I used pink) across the end of the nail tips. It's like a french manicure but with lots of color!

If this manicure isn't your style, check out some of my other nail styles here and here.

Hope you are having great weather for your egg hunts! Check back soon!

DIY - Leather Bracelet

Suede Bracelet
This is an easy bracelet to make. I wear mine all the time. It can be worn with just about everything.

And it can be made for less than $1.00 and only takes about one minute to make!

What you need:
  • Strip of leather or suede cord
How to make:
  • Cut to desired length
  • Tie knot at end creating a circle
  • Wrap around your wrist several times
  • Add beads if desired
Watch for this bracelet in an upcoming outfit. Check back soon and thanks for visiting my blog!

What I Wore - To School

Waiting to Leave for School
This is me hanging out. Just waiting to leave for school. Yesterday was a rainy, stormy day so it was a little cooler and so I thought I might need a thicker jacket to wear over my outfit jacket but it ended up being fine without it.

I would wear this outfit anywhere. It's great for school but also nice enough to go out to dinner with my parents. It is one of my favorite combinations. The jacket is what dresses it up. Without the jacket it is just a t-shirt and cropped jeans but the jacket makes it more stylish.

I like to swing on the playground at recess. So even though I love dresses and skirts, sometimes wearing jeans are a better option for school. I like wearing jeans with a dressier look and these are just about perfect.

What I Wore:

jeans - Justice
jacket - Total Girl
shirt - Arizona
shoes - Faded Glory
necklace - Crazy 8
bracelets - unknown

Playing Music with Style

I take piano lessons and every year the piano teachers in my area hold an annual piano competition for their students. Mine was this past weekend.

I chose this outfit because I wanted to look nice but be comfortable. The dress is longer in the back than the front so I didn't have to worry about tripping as I made my way to the piano when it was my turn. I really like this dress because it has sheer fabric all around the bottom. The shoes have straps so they will stay on my feet since my feet don't touch the ground when I sit on the piano bench. (That is kind of important!)  The shrug is light weight and has a few sequins scattered across the front. Remember, I like to be a little dressy!

I was really nervous this year. My songs were much longer and harder than before. But I think I did okay. I will find out when I go to my next piano class. Keep your fingers crossed!

What I Wore:

dress - pinky
shoes - faded glory
shrug - justice

Girlie Nails and the Saturday Manicure

Girlie Girl Nail Stickers

Guess what? It's Saturday again! That means it's time for another Saturday Manicure!

This week it's Girlie Girl Nail Stickers in white with red hearts. The hearts also come in blue in the same set. I wish that I had found these to wear to my friend's sleepover party. I think the other girls would have loved them!

Even though they are a little bit long sometimes, they can be cut to the right size. And they are great to wear on your nails and don't bother you at all.

The secret to keeping the stickers on is to put a coat of clear nail polish on top of the stickers. Then to remove, use nail polish remover as you would normal polish to remove the top coat then pull off the sticker.  Simple!

I would love to see any great manicure ideas that you have! Check back later!

Styled for Spring

I like this outfit. It is good for school or a day playing at the park. My favorite part of it is the sandals because I like summer shoes. I get to show off my painted toenails!

When you are looking for something that's right for Spring weather, cropped pants and a shirt always work.

I like to like to look a little dressy. That's my style. That's why I like the sequined star on the shirt.

Check back soon to see what other looks I create from my closet. Thanks for visiting my blog!

What I Wore:

shirt - Cherokee
jeans - Justice
sandals - Faded Glory

Low Bun with a Twist

This hairstyle is a good look for when you want your hair up and out of your face. It's quick and easy but I need help with the braiding. So you may too.

The most important thing to remember is try new styles and have fun. Hair bows and ribbons add to the outfit and make it all you.

Casual but Dressy

Ready for Church

This is an outfit I wear to church but it's also a good school dress when you need to look a little nicer than normal.

My church has two services - Traditional and Contemporary. I wouldn't wear this outfit to the Traditional Service but I did yesterday to the Contemporary where it is more casual and even has a band!

Even though it is a little dressy, you can easily play in it on the playground and it would be a perfect outfit for picture day.

This dress is sleeveless but I wear it now with a blue jean jacket and flats. When it gets warmer, I'll trade the flats for cute sandals.

A spring dress + a jean jacket = one cute outfit!

What I Wore:

jean jacket - Cherokee
dress - Disorderly Kids
shoes - Faded Glory
earrings and ring -  Justice
watch - unknown

Saturday Manicure

We are a family of girls. My dad is way outnumbered! Five to one! At our house - Saturday is manicure day. Here is mine for the week. I used Revlon Nail Art - Neon - in pink and white. It's easy and fun.

Check in next Saturday to see how I do my nails!

Stylish Car Ride Essentials

It's off to South Carolina!
This is a good outfit to travel in. An easy style works best when traveling in the car. The poncho is a good blanket on long trips when you want to sleep. It's easy to take on and off.

If you like dressy stuff like me, the scarf is a good touch. The shoes can come off easily if you want to take a nap or stretch out.

This outfit is simple but a good outfit for dinner if you stop along the way.

What I Wore:

shoes - K9
jeans - lei
poncho - Red Camel
shirt - Arizona Jean Co.
scarf - gift from Aunt Nancy
bag - Justice

Check back with me soon! I will uploading pics of some of my favorite outfits and where I wear them.

Spring Style but Winter Weather

Children's Place

Spring styles are everywhere in the stores. I can't wait to wear them. But it snowed here yesterday. What's a girl to do?

I want to wear a dress similar to this one with short sleeves when I visit my sister tomorrow in South Carolina. Since it is still cool even there, I need to wear something heavier than a vest and sandals.

I am going to wear a blue jean jacket with my dress. About everything looks great with a blue jean jacket. Blue jean jackets come in all colors. So if you don't like how blue looks, try a different color.

Check back and I will post a picture of of what I wore to dinner with my sister.
